AI index for teachers

The AI index is a scale of five levels in the AI use by students and is based on the AIAS framework as originally developed by Mike Perkins.

The AI index is available via intranet (for employees only, login required).

You are not allowed to create your own variants of the AI Index.

Documents on the AI index and how to apply it can be downloaded here. These are:

  1. The
  2. The explanatory supplement for students (see the AI index table)
  3. The model AI disclosure statement
  4. The AI responsibility matrix containing the AI index values

Attention is drawn to the following:

  • With permitted use of AI (AI index 2 - 5), there should be no disparity in assessment may arise as a consequence of differences in the extent to which student applies or does not apply AI
  • Student cannot be required to apply AI (such as e.g. ChatGPT) that is not provided by UU from a secure environment or positively allow listed.
  • Student may decide on their own (ethical) volition not to apply AI even if it is thus permitted unless it is part of the learning objectives.
