Artificial Intelligence (AI) affects almost all areas of education, research and management. As a university, we want to embrace AI: it opens up new opportunities for students and staff, from support in study and work to innovative applications in research.
At the same time, it requires careful considerations: how do we take advantage of the opportunities of AI, while continuing to work responsibly, transparently and safely? This is what we call Responsible AI. Through this central page you can find out how we as UU give substance to this.
About the central AI Policy
This institutional AI policy is being endorsed by the Executive Board and the 木瓜福利影视 Council and will be shaped based on legal frameworks, UU frameworks and our academic values. We apply AI in a way that aligns with our democratic principles and the values of the rule of law. In addition, the AI policy is built on the so-called Trustworthy AI principles of the HLEG of the EC. These Trustworthy AI principles were also used in the development of the UU AI Ethical Code of Conduct.
At UU we use the term Responsible AI by which we mean the ethical and responsible application of AI systems and tools. This is not limited to Generative AI but applies to all forms of AI. We define AI as all AI systems and tools referred to in the EU AI Act as well as impactful algorithms that could have potentially risky effects on education, our education systems or human rights.
