Public engagement
The Expertise Centre for Veterinary Genetics provides public information about the health of dogs and cats, including through lectures, media appearances and the organisation of the annual symposium 鈥淕ezond Gefokt鈥 (Healthy Breeding).
Public information
We provide information about the hereditary aspects of the health of dogs and cats via traditional media, social media, webinars and a yearly symposium (in Dutch).
International contributions
Both the international scientific and political communities call upon the Expertise Centre for Veterinary Genetics for advice. In this way, our knowledge and insights into animal welfare and breeding are shared not only nationally, but also internationally. For example, the our scientists gave a lecture for the Swedish Ministry of Defence's breeding programme and was represented at the International Sled Dog Veterinary Medical Association (ISDVMA) symposium in Kiruna, Sweden.
Symposium
Anually, we organise our symposium 鈥淕ezond Gefokt鈥 (Healthy Breeding), which is intended for breeders and veterinarians who wish to further their education in the field of genetics and hereditary disorders. Each year, there is a different theme.
