PetScan
PetScan is a diagnosis registration system in the Netherlands that supports veterinarians in the diagnosis of (hereditary) diseases in dogs and cats.
Participating veterinarians register diagnoses from their daily practice, enabling our research team to track the frequency and distribution of diseases across different breeds. This provides insights into the incidence of diseases in dogs and cats in the Netherlands. These insights are essential for building effective strategies to prevent hereditary diseases.
Benefits of PetScan for genetic research
The use of PetScan is essential to the genetic research conducted by the Expertise Centre for Veterinary Genetics. The collected data provide a crucial foundation for our scientific studies and for the development of services such as DNA tests, screening tools, and targeted advice for veterinary practice.
