Publishing your thesis

We pursue broad and open knowledge sharing. Therefore, as a student, you can indicate whether you want to make your master's thesis public when uploading in OSIRIS. All UU public theses can be found in the UU Student Theses Repository.

Submitting your thesis

You upload your thesis in OSIRIS. In OSIRIS, you can indicate if you want your thesis to be made publicly available. We do not make Bachelor's theses publicly available.

Findability of your thesis

Have you chosen to make your thesis publicly available? Then it will be done by means of a Creative Commons licence CC-BY-NC-ND. Your thesis will then be: 

  • publicly and freely accessible via the  Please read the Repository manual to get the best search results
  • also findable in  and .
  • publicly available for a fifteen-year period.

Changing the publication status

Has your master thesis already been published and would you like to make adjustments? Please email the library.

Have you decided not to publish your master thesis or have you set an embargo date and would you like to see that changed so that your thesis is made publicly available? Please . State the reasons why you want to change the publication status or embargo date. Have you written the thesis together with a fellow student? Don't forget to inform the other author(s).

Taking your thesis offline 

Master theses are online for a fifteen-year period, after that period they are always taken offline. Do you want your thesis taken offline earlier? Please send a request to the library by filling in the form .
