Sustainable Life Sciences

Research and innovations rely heavily on technologies that consume significant energy and generate substantial waste. Recognizing this impact, Utrecht Life Sciences institutions are taking meaningful steps towards sustainability and are working together to reduce their environmental footprint

Advancing sustainability in Life Sciences research and innovation.

Our goal

Our goal is to reduce the environmental impact of  scientific research and innovative healthcare at Utrecht Science Park.

The sustainability efforts focus on six key areas:

  • Recycling and exchange: equipment, substances and disposables
  • Energy: Reducing consumption and improving efficiency
  • Waste: Minimizing and laboratory and clinical waste
  • Water: Promoting responsible usage and management
  • ICT: Optimizing digital infrastructure for sustainability
  • Sharing information: exchange ideas and solutions
