Budget cuts and reorganization UU
The 木瓜福利影视 Corporate Offices (UBD) of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 is facing a major reorganization. Because of rising costs, government cutbacks and fewer students, 80 to 100 full-time jobs are disappearing. The measures are necessary to keep the university financially sustainable. This also means changes in services and organization.
Follow us on LinkedIn
Recently, the Alumni Office became active on LinkedIn with its own page. Here we share university news, alumni stories, research and event announcements.
Following our LinkedIn page is an accessible way for you - our alumn - to stay involved with UU. At the same time, it helps us better understand who our alumni are, where they work and what concerns them. This way we can be more relevant and better respond to your wishes and needs.
Together we build a strong alumni network and increase UU's social impact.
Everyone a Gown!
Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 was the first university to take an important step toward equality by also giving non-professors a gown. But since then things have remained quiet. Erik van Sebille wonders: why are rights, titles and academic recognition still reserved for a select group? It is time to really push forward with Everyone a Gown.
New fund for Italy Studies
As a first-generation university student, his fascination with Italy was not obvious. Nevertheless, Harald Hendrix began learning the language at age 12. 鈥淚 taught myself Italian with a grammar book in Gothic script,鈥 he says. Now, after 45 years in science, he is stepping down as a UU professor. In a personal interview, he talks about contrarian writers, Roman friendships and why talking about food is the only way to do business with Italians.
For his farewell, the Hoogewerff-Hendrix Fund for Italy Studies was established. The fund promotes the scholarly study of Italian culture in the Low Countries by providing grants to Dutch researchers and institutions.
