Future-oriented thinking about security
In a world where technological developments and geopolitical tensions follow each other in rapid succession, innovation is central to defence organisations. Based on his work at the Allied Command Transformation innovation centre in Norfolk (US), Bart Hollants provides a unique insight into how NATO is preparing for future threats. What does “military innovation” mean in practice? How do civil and military developments interact? And what role do strategy, technology and international cooperation play in this?
Jessica Dorsey adds an important legal and ethical dimension to this: how do we ensure that innovations within a NATO context continue to comply with international standards and rules? And how do these frameworks influence the choices that countries make in terms of defence policy and technology?
Meeting and exchange of ideas
During this evening, there will be plenty of opportunity to talk to the speakers and other attendees. The Faculty Club offers a setting where meeting, deepening and reflection come together.
