Recap 2025

The annual celebration of the mind was blessed with lovely sunny weather. We look back on a very successful edition. To all visitors and partners involved: thank you!

Thursday 12 June

On Thursday we kicked off at the 木瓜福利影视 Library. Here, employees and researchers of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 talked about their ambitious goal: a CO2-neutral university in 2030. In the lecture hall of Janskerkhof 2-3, alumni followed two fascinating lectures; about how the earthquakes caused by gas drilling in Groningen are becoming more predictable and about what male and female hormones can bring about.

In Parnassos, young and old stepped out of their comfort zone during the improvisation workshops of Theatersportgroep Parnassos. Meanwhile, in the Johanna Huidig building, alumni underwent a special experience: they took on the role of a river or ecosystem, and entered into a conversation about current environmental issues from that perspective.

There was also plenty to do in and around the 木瓜福利影视 Hall. In the garden of the Faculty Club, Utrecht Union students interviewed actor, director and coach Jaap Postma. At the same time, the Belle van Zuylenzaal discussed the complex privacy and security issues in the world of social media. And under the Dom Tower, alumni gathered for a joint walk along Utrecht's most beautiful street poetry.

Friday June 13

Prof. dr. Walter Immerzeel

On Friday, choices took center stage. The Career Office organized a practical workshop for young alumni who want to make choices more confidently. For professionals who want to move with the AI revolution, there was a lecture on making responsible choices when using data science. Donors and other interested parties could listen to what is being accomplished with weather stations in the Himalayas and the Horse Power project. Both projects were part of the 2024 and 2025 Pay It Forward campaigns of the Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 Fund.

Marijn Kruk

Alumn and author Marijn Kruk returned to the university especially for Sharing Days to discuss his book 鈥淥pstand鈥 about the populist revolt and the struggle for the soul of the West. In the Trans 10, one of the historic buildings of the Faculty of Humanities, alumni were given a nostalgic tour, right in time before the planned renovation. And Prof. Christian Lange gave us an insight into his research on the role of perfume and scent in Islam.

Alumni who wanted to start their weekend relaxed could attend yoga workshops in Parnassos. But also on Friday there was improvisational theater and a walk along the beautiful poems that can be found on the streets of Utrecht. An extensive Italian buffet was waiting in the Faculty Club. In the garden alumni enjoyed la Cucina Italiana and music by jazz trio Django Tigers.
