Join us on Tuesday, 18 November, for Wild about Nature, a unique dinner experience at the Faculty Club. Enjoy a refined four-course menu featuring game and local ingredients, perfectly paired with selected wines. Between courses, researchers from Future Food Utrecht will share their expertise and insights, turning each dish into not only a culinary delight but also an inspiring journey into the future of our food.

During the dinner, Marijke van Kuijk (Associate Professor, Wildlife Ecology and Nature Restoration) will share her vision on food for wild animals. Gillina Bezemer (Programme Leader, Graduate Honours Interdisciplinary Seminars) will speak about hunting, damage control, and the valuable potential of goose meat.

The Nature Dinner costs EUR 71.50 per person, including a four-course menu, aperitif, carefully selected wines, and coffee or tea.

About the speakers

Marijke van Kuijk is a tropical forest ecologist committed to conserving forests around the world. She studies the interactions between wild animals and plants, focusing on processes such as seed dispersal, grazing, and the sustainable use of crops.

Gillina Bezemer is a guest researcher and PhD candidate at the Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS). Her research explores the role of Toll-like receptors in respiratory diseases. She is also the programme leader of the international Graduate Honours Interdisciplinary Seminars (GHIS), a university-wide honours programme that brings together master’s students from different disciplines to collaborate alongside their regular studies.

Future Food Utrecht

This dinner was organised in collaboration with Future Food Utrecht. This hub brings together research capacity from various faculties of Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ, UMC Utrecht and the business community. The focus area is led by a multidisciplinary and interfaculty group of scientists, representing 25 research groups from six faculties with an annual budget of €100 million. Future Food Utrecht collaborates with private and public partners such as Nutricia Research, RIVM, TNO, Immuno Valley, Bilthoven Biologicals, Unilever, Philips and Friesland Campina.
