Preparation PhD Defence

Completing your PhD is a moment to celebrate! At Utrecht ľ�ϸ��Ӱ��, the PhD defence ceremonies are held in the ľ�ϸ��Ӱ�� Hall in central Utrecht. During the ceremony, you will defend your thesis before a Doctoral Examination Committee and pledge to uphold academic and research integrity. At the end, you will receive a diploma in Latin, an English translation, and a legally valid confirmation of your Doctoral Degree in English. Only one original degree certificate is issued. If you applied for the GSLS Training Certificate, you will receive that as well.

Done!	Task	Details
	Write your doctoral thesis	Ensure it meets the doctoral thesis requirements.
	Upload your doctoral thesis to MyPhD	You can upload your thesis after your supervisory team has assessed and approved your manuscript. Your supervisor will form an Assessment Committee.
	Schedule your defence	Once the Assessment Committee is registered in My PhD, contact the Beadle's Office to set a preliminary defence date.
	Finalise your defence date	After the Assessment Committee approves your doctoral thesis, the preliminary date becomes definitive.
	Prepare for the ceremony	Follow the Beadle's Office instructions for arranging your defence ceremony.
	Request a GSLS Training Certificate	You are responsible for collecting documentation of training activities undertaken during your PhD. Your portfolio will be reviewed by your PhD programme coordinator to determine if you are eligible for a certificate.
	Complete the GSLS Post Graduation PhD Survey	Share your experiences to enable the GSLS to improve the quality of the PhD track.
	Defend your doctoral thesis	Congragulations! You have developed into an independent researcher.
