You can end your Friendship by sending an email to vrienden.botanischetuinen@uu.nl. Please include your full name, Friend number, and address. You can also call Floor Peeters at +31 6 53 27 98 58. You will always receive a confirmation of your cancellation via email.

Your Friendship starts at the moment you become a Friend and lasts for one year from that date. After that, it is automatically renewed for another year on the anniversary of your registration, unless you have canceled your Friendship in the meantime.

When you signed up as a Friend, you authorized us to deduct the contribution annually from your account.

• If you became a Friend before January 1, 2025, the contribution will be collected each year in January.
• If you became a Friend after January 1, 2025, the contribution will be collected annually a few weeks after the date your Friendship started.

Unfortunately, starting in 2025, it will no longer be possible to gift a Friendship to someone else. If you have any questions, please contact us at vrienden.botanischetuinen@uu.nl.

When you become a Friend, you will receive - once only - a Friend's Pass. Your pass will remain valid and activated as long as you remain a Friend. Your pass gives you free entry to the Gardens at all times during regular opening hours. You can also use your pass to enter through the turnstile gates at the main entrance. Very handy on busy days (no need to queue at the counter).

When you cancel your Friendship, we deactivate the card and ask you to return the Friendship card to us. We can then reuse the cards.

So you will not (anymore) receive a new Friends Pass every year, as you did until 2021.

In 2022, we stopped sending a new Friends Pass every year. Now, you receive a Friends Pass when you become a Friend, and it remains valid as long as you do not cancel your Friendship.

Please note: If you are still ‘Steunvriend’ and contribute less than €35 per year, you are not entitled to a Friends Pass. However, you can upgrade your Friendship to a Personal Friendship (free access for one person) or Personal Friendship Plus (free access for two people).
