Book panel: 鈥淓mancipatory Human Rights and the 木瓜福利影视"
The Carla Atzema-Looman Chair in Human Rights Education Dr. Felisa Tibbitts was collaborating with Dr. Andr茅 Keet, Chair for Critical Studies in Higher Education Transformation at Nelson Mandela 木瓜福利影视 (South Africa) in co-editing the book 鈥淓mancipatory Human Rights and the 木瓜福利影视鈥. The book explores the theoretical and practical question of how universities can promote human rights, with perspectives from Africa, Europe, Latin America, North America and Southeast Asia. A virtual panel was held as part of SIM/Utrecht 木瓜福利影视鈥檚 40th Anniversary celebration and was also taking place during the 100th anniversary of the Soroptimists, who are sponsoring Dr. Tibbitts鈥 Chair in Human Rights Education.
UnMASKing: Using Covid-19 to engage young people in human rights education
Prof dr. Felisa Tibbitts, Chair in Human Rights Education at SIM, hosted the webinar "UnMASKing: Using Covid-19 to engage young people in human rights education" on Wednesday, 11 November. In this event, Prof. Tibbitts talked about the importance of linking human rights with current issues and presented her latest curriculum "UnMASKing: The Pandemic Curriculum".
Black Lives Matter @UU: Creating Change
'The role of higher education' took place on 30 November 2020. The keynote speech was given by Stephen Small, Professor of African Diaspora Studies at the 木瓜福利影视 of California, Berkeley. The speech was followed by a conversation with Dr. Brianne McGonigle Leyh, Associate Professor, specializing in human rights law and global justice and with writer and artist Quinsy Gario.

Peter Baehr Lecture 2020:
Nani Jansen Reventlow, director of the Digital Freedom Fund, delivered the 2020 Peter Baehr Lecture on Friday 16 October, She spoke about 鈥楨nsuring human rights for all in the digital age鈥, drawing on her experience at the Fund and as a human rights litigator.
