Intrinsic joint repair: development of targeted treatment of inflammation in osteoarthritis
Kelly Warmink
What was your PhD about?
"During my PhD I studied the interplay between obesity, inflammation and osteoarthritis, especially focusing on the role of monocytes in the blood and macrophages in the joint synovium. As part of the William Hunter Revisited consortium, we aimed to target the inflammation in osteoarthritis for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes."
What is your fondest memory of your time at RMU?
"I always enjoyed the atmosphere at the RMU, it is a really nice environment to keep in touch with all regenerative medicine research and start up new collaborations."
What are you going to do next?
"Last year I started working in the Princess Maxima Center in Utrecht to study treatment induced bone toxicity, in which we are still collaborating with the RMU and UMCU."
