IMPROVE

Across Europe, a wealth of information and data on patients exists, but it is scattered across many different platforms and systems. The IMPROVE project aims to make digital healthcare more efficient by improving the use of Patient-Generated Health Data (PGHD) available in Europe. To that end, the consortium develops an evidence-based framework that integrates information from European patient-generated health data and e-health technologies, such as wearable devices and mobile apps. This framework will be hosted on an online platform designed to facilitate the development of healthcare solutions by analyzing patient input and evidence.

The IMPROVE project is a large consortium between 26 cross-disciplinary partners. The role of Utrecht 木瓜福利影视鈥檚 DISC-AI lab is to facilitate the process of gathering relevant articles in order to create a knowledge warehouse that can be used in further steps of the project.

Progress

In the summer of 2024, the IMPROVE team at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 organised a 鈥淪creenathon鈥. This was an event where a group of 25 people screened about 12.000 papers on relevance for inclusion in the IMPROVE framework. Since then we have facilitated various steps in further screening and extracting of the papers. In the summer of 2025 we will host another Screenathon with updated search results. For this we will use the newly released ASReview version 2.0.

There are multiple papers expected to result from this project. The publication about the first Screenathon is currently in review. A data paper about the screening workflow is forthcoming, alongside publication of these data.

Funding

The IMPROVE project is funded by the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI), a public-private partnership between the European Union and the pharmaceutical and health technology industries (represented by EFPIA and MedTech Europe). The project receives support under grant agreement No 101112084 and is part of the EU鈥檚 Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.
