Travelling to the Netherlands
The procedure for travelling to the Netherlands looks different, depending on you needing an entry visa or not. Please select the category that applies to you for more information.
Travelling to the Netherlands with a MVV (entry visa)
After collecting the MVV it will be valid for another 3 months (90 days). You must enter the Netherlands within this period. You can collect your Dutch student residence permit card in the Netherlands. The Visa Office will send you an e-mail once the card is ready to be collected.
Travelling to the Netherlands if you don鈥檛 need a MVV
Once the IND has approved your application, you can book a ticket for your trip to Utrecht. You will be able to enter the Netherlands on your passport. You do not need to show a visa (MVV) or proof of your residence permit (VVR) application, although it might be practical to have your (digital) letter of admission ready. Keep in mind you are only allowed the enter the Schengen area without a visa for a maximum of 90 days before you collect your residence permit card in the Netherlands. Therefore, we strongly suggest you do not travel before July. The Visa Office will send you an e-mail once your residence permit card is ready to be collected
