SIG Dialogue in Education
Making complex topics discussable in your lectures. Encouraging students to change perspectives and teaching them how to truly listen and engage in respectful dialogue. The UU Education Model places skills such as “open dialogue” and “being open to other perspectives” at the heart of academic education. That sounds great, but how do you do that in practice, organising and facilitating dialogue as part of your teaching?
Many departments within Utrecht ľϸӰ already have initiatives to develop or implement forms of dialogue in education. What is needed to achieve this? When and how does it work, and what does not work? The Special Interest Group ‘Dialogue in Education’ provides a platform for lecturers, bringing together knowledge, experience and expertise on dialogue in (higher) education across the boundaries of programmes and faculties.
Meet colleagues who are also enthusiastic about using dialogue forms in teaching at the SIG meetings. Exchange experiences, try out new teaching methods, expand your network and talk to experts. Gain new inspiration and learn from each other!
The SIG Dialogue in Education works closely with the Generative Dialogue Lab. This living lab focuses not only on education (through this SIG), but also on research into dialogue and the embedding of dialogue in the broader working methods and culture of Utrecht ľϸӰ.
