On February 9, 2025, during his appearance on the Dutch television program Buitenhof, Bellingcat founder Eliot Higgins spoke about the research conducted by our lab into the pro-Palestinian protests at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 in the fall of 2024, conducted by Giancarlo Fiorella, Juliette Krijger and Felix Lommerse. He emphasized the significance of the investigation, highlighting it as an example of how open-source research can contribute meaningfully to public understanding of social movements. In July 2025, the Financial Times published an investigation on gang violence in and arms flows to Haiti, in which the Lab and its students are mentioned for their contributions. Several of our students participated in this investigation, using methods like geolocation, satellite imagery analysis, and social media analysis, and made valuable contributions to the project.
