Contesting Academia
As part of the Contesting Academia priority area, members of the Contesting Governance Platform鈥檚 core team organize and facilitate events to critically explore the role of contestation in/and/against academia. Through innovative and participatory formats, Contesting Academia promotes the sharing of strategies, experiences, and reflections among members of the academic community and, ultimately, the reimagining of the university.
Academia is the site and object of different modes, types, and directions of contestation.
Contesting Academia offers a space to foster open debates and critical exploration of the current state, the challenges, and the future of academia. It invites the interdisciplinary investigation of themes such as academic freedom, science scepticism and activism, shrinking spaces for scientific inquiry and dissent, threats to internationalization and institutional autonomy, and protests by university students and staff. We actively seek collaborations on these themes to extend critical dialogue across and beyond university spaces.
