Especially in times of economic uncertainty and political change, it is essential that researchers continue to communicate and engage in dialogue about their work. After all, science is not only a means to gain knowledge, but also to better understand and improve the world around us.

Researchers are a bridge between academia and society. They offer insight into the value of scientific findings and make the connection between complex issues and the everyday reality of you and me. This keeps science not only accessible, but relevant for everyone.

It is admirable how researchers remain committed to sharing their knowledge despite many challenges. Consider the polarization of the public debate and a growing workload, as well as the U.S. government thwarting and censoring scientists, and its impact on science worldwide - including here.

By making their work visible, researchers foster much-needed understanding and support for science. This tireless effort deserves not only recognition, but continued support.

In this fifth edition of Close-up, we once again highlight the power of public engagement and its undeniable importance in science today.

We hope to inspire you!
