Replacing dormer windows Marinus Ruppert building
From March 2025, all the dormer window frames in the Marinus Ruppert building will be replaced. New ones will replace the current window frames with single glazing with insulated glazing. In addition, the asbestos sheeting above the window frames will be removed. This work will contribute to a more sustainable and comfortable building.
Why is this work necessary?
To reduce energy consumption and improve the indoor environment, the dormers will be fitted with better insulating glass. It will also enable us to comply with legislation to make buildings more sustainable.
How will the work be carried out?
The work will take place both inside and outside the building. The construction site is located in the car park on Leuvenlaan. This is where materials will be stored, loaded, and unloaded. The construction crane will also be set up to transport materials to the roof.
The contractor will have access to the roof through the east side of the building, next to the entrance on Leuvenlaan.
What does this mean for you?
During the work, you may experience inconvenience due to:
- Construction activities on the roof, such as demolition and carpentry work.
- Hoisting activities with a construction crane.
- Asbestos removal by a specialized company. This is done according to all legal guidelines to prevent emissions. Because it is bonded asbestos, the remediation can be carried out safely.
- Noise pollution, especially during the day. To minimize the impact on education, noisy work is not started until after 08:00.
- Weekend work inside the building, especially for moving scaffolding in the hall. This will be spread over six weekends during the project.
Measures to limit inconvenience
Because the building will remain in use, we are taking the users into account:
- Noise nuisance will be reduced as much as possible.
- The planning is coordinated with education.
- The contractor will apply working methods that cause less inconvenience, such as cutting instead of sawing old window frames.
