Renovation ACCU building

New neighbours!

Have you always wondered what that vacant little building next to the Hans Freudenthal Building is? That's the ACCU building. The name suggests it is an energy storage facility, but it is not. The little building has quite a history - including abbreviations: in fact, it was initially developed as the Computing Centre for Physics and Mathematics: abbreviated ERC (Electronic Computing Centre). It was later given the abbreviation 'ACCU': Academic Computer Centre Utrecht. Apart from some installations in the basement, the building is largely empty. But that has changed!

Campus & Facilities (C&F) as user

This empty building offers a great opportunity for C&F to centrally organise their services from this location. After all, C&F has grown so much in recent times that they are currently spread across several buildings. C&F is also busy with a major transition in the North-West cluster (the area around the ACCU building) in the coming years. This move has created some extra space in the northwest corner of the USP, for example in the Caroline Bleeker building.
