Why do people follow trends they see online? How does AI shape decision-making in the workplace? And what makes social influence so powerful in schools, organisations or health campaings? Although a wide range of issues, the same rule applies to all of them: it comes down to the way in which people affect each other's behaviour.

About Social, Health and Organisational Psychology

This Master’s programme examines how our thoughts, feelings and behaviours are shaped by others and how we can use that knowledge to promote positive change.

Tracks

During the programme, you will choose between two :

  • Social Influence and Health Promotion: about the social influence of behaviour, attitude change and improving health-related behaviour
  • Work and Organisation: about the functioning and wellbeing of individuals and teams in organisations

By choosing a track and elective courses you can explore your personal field of interest.

"Just do it!" With the help of advertising campaigns, companies try to sell their products. What works and what doesn't?

Programme objective

You will gain specialised knowledge, skills and insights in the fields of Social and Health Psychology and/or Work and Organisational Psychology. Your development as an academic professional is of central concern.

As a Master's graduate, you will be able to analyse and propose interventions for social, health or organisational issues, such as:

Health is one of the most important things in our lives. Why do people nevertheless find it so difficult to engage in healthy behaviour?

Why this programme in Utrecht?

  • The courses are rooted in the international scientific literature and are focused on the international context
  • The possibility to specialise or broaden your horizon
  • International fame
  • Linking theory and practice

Every organisation wants enthusiastic employees. But what can they do to get them?

Research-driven

In this Master’s programme, research is more than a method – it is a mindset. You conduct research to understand how people think, feel and behave in social, health and organisational contexts. And you use that same research to influence behaviour through theory-based, real-world interventions. You will learn to use the PATH model (Problem–Analysis–Test–Help) as a way to move from insight to impact.
