Basic training courses Brightspace
Basic training is provided from the faculties to introduce you as a teacher to Brightspace. Subjects covered include the structure of a course environment, setting up a course, creating and assessing assignments and an overview of the activities possible within Brightspace.
For each faculty, you will find specific information on these basic training courses below.
Dates will be added regularly. For all training sessions: bring your laptop, as you will be working in Brightspace yourself during the training.
Basic button course and walk in hours
Next to our instructions during teacher meetings we have scheduled additional meetings: the basic button courses introduce you to Brightspace by showing how to structure your course, how to add materials, and what activities you could use within Brightspace.
Directly after the basic button courses we have scheduled 鈥榳alk in hours鈥. You can stay and start migrating or building your course with support presents or only visit only this walk-in hour if you have questions.

Brightspace afternoon: 鈥淚nvest an afternoon, save a week鈥
Tuesday 11 November 2025 鈥 UCU Campus
On this afternoon we guide you through the complete transition process from Blackboard to Brightspace. Whether you are a beginner or tech-savvy but looking for specifics: by the end of the day you will be ready to design your online course environment for next semester with ease, or you might even have made most of it during the sessions!

(1) Get familiar with Brightspace. Share course information and content, set up an assignment and add the similarity check. As Brightspace is pretty intuitive, these may be things that you can find out by yourself. But if you would rather learn the system from scratch with us, then join this workshop with your course material at hand, and we will help you set up your course!
(2) Learn more about Brightspace functionalities that are important but may be hard to find out by yourself, with special focus on tools that are particularly useful at UCU, such as working with groups, letter grading and attendance.
