For her PhD thesis, entitled 鈥淭he Role of Translation in Shaping Exiled Writers' Experience of Displacement鈥�, Laurine investigates how the literary translation practices of European writers in exile have promoted social and professional positioning and the renegotiation of identity within host societies. A secondary goal is to establish a conceptual framework that connects exile studies and translation studies, emphasising how the study of translation work produced in the context of exile provides insight into the development of the exile experience itself. In this regard, her background in translation and contemporary Spanish and Latin American literature will be particularly useful. She is conducting this PhD research under the supervision of Prof. Helena Houvenaghel and Dr Paola Bellomi at the Institute for Cultural Research (ICON).
She has also been working as an administrative associate for the Spanish language and culture institute Instituto Cervantes since 2023.
