Jo is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, specializing in the intersection of video games, artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, and data science. He is part of the Interaction/Multimedia group within the Information and Computing Sciences department. His research focuses on applying AI and data science techniques to video games, often collaborating directly with the gaming industry to implement and evaluate innovations. As an overall research goal, he aims to augment player experience with AI- and data-driven approaches, and stresses the central role of the player in development, balancing, and analytics of video games.
