In this workshop, the outcomes of our most recent social impact study in the apparel value chain were explored. The study explores the social impact of the different circular strategies implemented in India, Spain and the Netherlands. The panel will discuss critical challenges and possible ways forward to a more inclusive and circular sector.

- Project: Collaboration with MVO Netherlands
MVO Netherlands, the organisation of entrepreneurs in the new economy, and Utrecht 木瓜福利影视's Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development are partnering to accelerate the transition to the new, circular economy. This means that the institute can use practical knowledge from MVO Netherlands' sustainable business network in developing knowledge about the circular transition. MVO Netherlands also supports various studies on circular innovations in specific chains.

- Project: Integrating consumer behaviour in sustainability assessments
A research project on integrating consumer behaviour in sustainability assessments will combine insights from the social and environmental sciences to review this theme and develop new approaches for this important driver in the successful realisation of a circular economy, led by researchers from the Faculties of Social Sciences and Geosciences.

- Project: Adapting current policy instruments
This project explores the needs for adapting current policy instruments (i.e. extended producer responsibility) from a governance and legal perspective to come to a circular economy, through workshops and a joint paper, involving researchers from the Departments of Sustainable Development and Law.

- Project: Degrowth symposium
Building on the success of the first Utrecht Degrowth Symposium, a conference was organised by researchers from the Science and Geosciences Faculties on the transition to a circular society within a resource constrained world built on economic and socially just development paths.
