The Towards a Circular Economy and Society hub of Pathways to Sustainability is a platform for scientists of Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ and stakeholders to jointly contribute to the transition to a sustainable circular society. As the transition to a circular economy is by definition interdisciplinary, the hub aims at generating new initiatives and forms of collaboration. The hub therefore launches an initial Call for Proposals to foster the building of an active community of researchers and stakeholders by supporting:

  • new and innovative research (collaboration) that combines aspects of technology development, the role of institutions, regulatory instruments and behavioural change in transformation processes to more circularity. Seed money can be requested for example for the preparation of a research proposal or for writing a joint research paper.
  • increasing the national and international visibility of Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ research on circular economy aspects and increasing interaction with stakeholders Seed money can be requested for example to write  a joint article aimed at policymakers or decision makers, or to organise workshops.

The proposed activity should be initiated by researchers of at least two faculties of Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ. Participation of researchers of other faculties than the three initiating faculties is possible.

The proposal of maximum 1 page should describe the activities and expected outcomes, as well as the role of the seed funding to help the initiative. It should substantiate how it contributes to building the presence of Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ in the field of circular economy.

Each proposal can request up to €15,000 of funding from the hub. The total budget of the call is €60,000. The proposals will be reviewed by the coordinators of the hub of the three supporting faculties.

Proposals shall be submitted by Monday 13 January 2020 by e-mail to Ernst Worrell.
