About the platform
Data and AI hold centre stage on the European regulatory agenda. The new data- and AI-focused laws in the EU, together with the 鈥渋ncumbent鈥 laws with significance for data and AI, form EU digital acquis. The Platform 鈥淚nterdisciplinary Studies on Data, AI and Law鈥 (DAI) studies the interaction between the data- and AI-related developments in technology and society and the digital acquis.
DAI aims to answer two interrelated Research Questions:
- (How) do AI and data technologies and practices change the socio-technical context in which the law applies, and how should the law respond to these changes?
- (How) can AI and data aid in applying, enforcing and understanding the effect of legal rules?
The Platform鈥檚 distinct identity is defined by interdisciplinarity. We draw our understanding of the socio-technical context and impact of legal rules from other disciplines such as computer science, science and technology studies (STS), and economics, and are a vehicle of technology literacy of legal scholars, supporting the innovative research at the School of Law.
