Condemning each other – The psychology of trust and justice in enforcement interventions
In this research project I will study whether and how elements of enforcement procedures impact trust in the government institution from people directly involved in the procedures. Specifically, I will study how to mitigate negative impacts on trust and how to repair trust in an enforcement procedure. I will also study if and how enforcement procedures affect trust more generally (e.g. trust in the whole institution or in the whole government). Finally, I will study the effects of the enforcement procedure of trust in own capabilities (self-efficacy) to comply with regulations.
