PhD theses in Earth Sciences

On this page, we aim to provide an overview of all PhD dissertations in the Department of Earth Sciences and its Utrecht predecessors. When applicable, a link is provided to the publication in the UU-repository, but not all theses are available with open access, especially the older ones. Work-in-progress volumes are usually listed once the volume number is known.

Since 2011, Utrecht Studies in Earth Sciences (USES) is the main publication series in which most, yet not all, PhD dissertations of the Departments of Earth Sciences (DES) ánd Physical Geography (DPG) are published. The overview given here is limited to the DES theses. Besides 'USES', you'll find additional abbreviations GU and MB, referring to publications in our previous series Geologica Ultraiectina and Utrecht Micropaleontological Bulletin.

Incidentally, theses are mentioned that have been defended at other universities or departments, with co-supervision from DES.
