Research in the Animal Behaviour and Cognition group involves three research lines, concerning animal group living, animal social cognition, and animal welfare. Our research focusses mainly on primates, although we also extensively study birds and other animals.
Yawning appears to be a measure of brain size. Animals with larger brains yawn longer than those with smaller brains, according to research by biologist Jorg Massen.
