Join the animal hospital at Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ! The anesthesiology team at our hospital supports both the companion animal clinic and the equine clinic and is responsible for performing sedations and general anesthesia for a wide range of procedures. To strengthen our team, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated veterinarian, preferably with experience in primary veterinary care and clinical anesthesia of companion animals, for the position of intern.
Your job
In the role of intern, you will be actively involved in communicating with fellow veterinarians, owners, anesthetists, veterinary assistants, and students. In addition to patient care, you will play an important role in clinical education and supervising interns. You will also participate in the duty roster together with your colleagues.
You will be part of an expert and collegial team consisting of:
- two anesthesiology specialists (ECVAA Boarded.)
- two residents who work the equine and companion animal clinics.
- several veterinary anesthetists.
- several veterinary nurses.

Your qualities
- You are a qualified veterinarian (DVM or equivalent) with a clear interest in anesthesiology in companion animals, clinical experience in this field is a must.
- You communicate clearly and pleasantly with colleagues, students and owners.
- You like to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- You take initiative in supervising interns.
- You are flexible and willing to work according to a duty roster.
- You have a strong command in Dutch and English language both spoken and written.
Our offer
- A job for 12 months with the possibility of an extension for an additional two years;
- a working week of 36 - 40 hours and a gross monthly salary between €3,546 and €5,538 in the case of full-time employment (salary scale 10 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU));
- 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;
- a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.

At the Department of Clinical Sciences, you will work alongside approximately 150 veterinarians and a similar number of support staff. Approximately two-thirds of the veterinarians are specialists in various disciplines; the remaining one-third consists of interns, residents and PhD candidates. Together we are responsible for the education of veterinary students, provision of clinical services to horses and companion animals, and both clinical and more fundamental research in the areas of regenerative medicine, locomotion, genetics and reproduction.
