Johanna Annau's internship at the Historische Museum Frankfurt

Johanna Annau did her internship at Historische Museum Frankfurt. Read her story below.

"I completed CHIP at the Historische Museum Frankfurt. While this museum offers many projects and exhibitions on city history, I was specifically working in the education department and with the collection. So I helped in many different places, from evaluating the  didactic work in the temporary exhibition, researching for upcoming exhibitions and setting up an online exhibition.

My main focus was working on adding LGBTIQ+history to the collection. Most of the time I spent onlooking through a donation of archival material from a Frankfurt Sportsclub for women with a strong connection to Lesbian communities, 鈥淎rtemis鈥. Another intern and I went through the material, catalogued it, and started making suggestions on what to keep and what to return. This was incredibly interesting, not only to earn about the sportsclub鈥檚 history and about the history of queer sport in general, but also to get an impression in how many decisions are included in collecting. It almost seemed impossible to me to make a decision about what might be of interest in the future, both  or research and for exhibitions."

This is the entire collection we got, placed on a shelf as we tried to get an impression of what we had.
In the end we packed everything back up in neat boxes and gave it to the right conservators
