Isobel Wilkes at Corinium Museum, Cirencester, U.K.
Isobel Wilkes' CHIP internship was at Corinium Museum, Cirencester, U.K. (2021).

"I spent six weeks digitally interning at the Corinium Museum, supervised by the Learning Development Officer. My placement consisted of two assignments centred on Romano-British archaeology: in the first, I provided a consultation on engagement activities for high school students of classics, and in the second, I helped to mark the fiftieth excavation anniversary of a core collection piece, the hare mosaic.
This involved researching the piece, writing a blog about it, and reaching out to other heritage institutions nationally (such as Vindolanda) and internationally (such as the Getty Villa) to interview curators about their own Roman hare objects.

In doing this, I have helped to improve the accessibility and experience of the museum for school-age visitors and pioneered some interinstitutional connections based on shared collections. Completing my placement virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic was not without its obstacles, but it also enabled me to meet with heritage professionals across the UK and abroad and to focus on the importance of digital heritage. I can鈥檛 wait to visit the Corinium Museum in person as soon as possible!鈥
and you will find examples of texts that Isobel has written for the museum.
