Neurodiversity in the workplace
The quality of teams is enhanced when their individual members thrive. Therefore, work environments will benefit from embracing neurodiversity as an important facet of a productive workplace. Sufficient (self) knowledge regarding neurodiversity, a socially safe work environment and inclusive leadership are fundamental in this respect. Are you neurodivergent and working at UU or considering applying for a role at UU? On this page you will find information on neurodiversity in the workplace for staff and applicants.
Disclosure of your neurotype
Disclosing your neurotype (e.g. autism, AD(H)D, dyslexia, giftedness, bipolar, neurotypical, etc.) is a personal decision. You are not obligated to disclose this information in the workplace or during an application or interview. However, being transparent regarding (potential) support needs or work requirements may help safeguard a healthy and sustainable work environment that focuses on talents instead of limitations.
Accommodations
If any accommodations are required to perform well and carry out your job in a sustainable manner, please contact your manager to discuss the possibilities. Examples of accommodations are flexible working hours, possibility to work from home (more), taking (more) breaks, using the rest spaces, placing (acoustic) screens between desks, (reading) software, dimming/switching off the lights, using noise cancelling headphones, etc. The availability of accommodations depends on the job tasks and possibilities within each building. Visit intranet for more information on accommodations.
