Report: Extension of the duty to report a crime in cases of serious sexual abuse?

In commission of the WODC (Research and Documentation Centre), Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 has conducted research on how the exchange of information on sexual abuse is being disclosed in the Netherlands.

At the moment, there is a duty to report in the Netherlands when it comes to rape. The duty to report is for anyone who is informed about a rape, including the victim. Not reporting a rape is punishable. For other sexual abuse there is only a right to report. The study focusses on the question whether in cases of serious sexual abuse an extension of the duty to report a crime to the police and the penalization on non-compliance should be considered. By means of multiple scenarios, the study discusses the opportunities and risks of extending the duty to report and its implications for tackling sexual abuse of minors.
