Inspiration and sharing experiences during the national XR Community event at UU

On Wednesday 8 October, the national XR Community event, in collaboration with Npuls, took place at Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ. It was a well-attended and inspiring day, focused on the exchange of knowledge between higher education institutions about the use of this immersive technology in education.

This edition, the theme was ‘from opportunity to course’. Extended Reality (XR) is no longer just a hype: it visibly adds value to learning and educational design. Therefore, the central question was: how do we make the transition from experiments to sustainable integration? During presentations and discussions, XR colleagues shared their experiences, challenges and, above all, the many opportunities that XR offers.

Inspiring programme

The day began with a tour of the XR spaces at Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ and the Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ of Applied Sciences. Participants discovered how these spaces were designed and what educational and technical choices were made in the process.

After a joint lunch, the day continued in the Boothzaal. Npuls welcomed everyone and explained what they can provide for institutions. XR project leaders Jan Bouwman and Jeroen Rou then gave an insight into how XR is used at Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ.

In the sub-sessions, various institutions shared their approaches on topics such as teacher development, policy and scaling up innovation. Of course, there was also opportunity to network and explore how XR can be further developed in the education of tomorrow.
