Four UU/UMCU ELSA Labs recognized by NLAIC
ELSA (Ethical Legal and Societal Aspetcs) Labs are an instrument of the Human-centric AI working group of the NLAIC (Netherlands AI Coalition). The aim of the ELSA Labs is to ensure that companies, governmental authorities, centres of expertise, civil society organisations and the general public develop responsible applications of AI jointly. This involves solutions for both social and business problems, focusing on honesty, fairness, security and (above all) trustworthiness.
At UU and UMCU there are four ELSA Labs. All four have been recognized with the NL AIC Label. The ELSA Lab Value Alignment in Medical AI is most recently recognized, and is also supported by the EWUU. They meet the target objectives set for research and development of ELSA aspects of AI applications in an ELSA Lab.
