Contribute to connecting public and science
The magazine on public engagement
Close-up #5 is out! The Center for Science and Culture's magazine on public engagement, full of inspiring columns, background stories and practical examples from Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 staff.
Be inspired by the examples in this magazine, develop your own ideas and find suitable partners to realise them. Now - more than ever - is the time to connect with the public about the importance of science.
In the magazine
This edition highlights the importance of support for science in society. Because how do you discuss sensitive topics in times of political tension? Also: a column by the brand new director of the National Science & Society Expert Center (NEWS), an interview with humanities scholars about what drives them to keep communicating about their work despite everything, and stories about scientific collaboration with indigenous populations, a testing ground for postdocs, and how museum visitors can contribute to research data. You can read this and more in Close-up #5.

Public and science
Engaging a broad and diverse public in science is also known as public engagement. At Utrecht 木瓜福利影视, we see public engagement as part of Open Science. Open Science means: sharing scientific results and data and making them usable, and also allowing people outside the academic community to participate in research. This is essential to keep the relationship between science and society open and democratic.
