Career prospects
The Nanomaterials Science Master鈥檚 programme will prepare you to successfully pursue a variety of problem-solving and research-based careers. During the programme, you will be able to determine which career perspective best fits your talents and interests. We will guide and support you to focus your programme on obtaining all the skills required for a certain career path
Academic Careers
The majority of our students chooses to pursue a PhD program after graduation. Once they have their PhD degree, some of them continue with an academic career, but the most of them find excellent positions in R&D in a company or research institute (see below for examples).
Non- academic Careers
Many of our students enter the job market immediately after graduation and can be found in various positions in companies, education or other institutions (see below for examples).
Example careers
Graduates of our programme can be found as:
- Group leaders in large international companies such as Shell, Albemarle, DSM, Unilever, BASF, Bayer, Philips, etc.
- Scientists and R&D Engineers in small to medium sized companies and start-ups such as Protochips, LionVolt, E-Stone, Ioniqa, Evoqua, Seaborough
- Researcher at research institutes related to sustainability such as RIVM, NIOZ and Rijkswaterstaat
- Analyst or manager at banks or financial institutions
- Research fellow at multinational research laboratories such as Amolf, DIFFER, Max-Planck Institute, FOM, Holst Centre, etc.
- Teacher in secondary or higher education
- Examiner at the European Patent Office

Careers Day
Once a year Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 organises a . The Careers Day offers the opportunity to sign up for workshops and trainings, and to meet recruiters at the careers fair. It鈥檚 also possible to join a job application training or have your resume checked.
Bring your knowledge to life in the classroom!
Do you want to inspire young people and do something that truly matters? Become a teacher by completing the one-year Leraar voorbereidend hoger onderwijs (LVHO) after your Master鈥檚 degree. You鈥檒l be qualified to teach in all levels of secondary education (vmbo/havo/vwo), mbo and adult education. Please note that the programme is in Dutch.

With practical experience and didactic training, you鈥檒l develop the skills to convey knowledge in a lively and accessible manner.

Hybrid teaching
Want to combine teaching with another job? You can! As a hybrid teacher, you might work in the corporate sector as well as in the classroom. This way, you will help students understand the theory but also show them how things work in practice. It keeps your work dynamic and varied.
