Graduates of the Master鈥檚 in Methodology and Statistics are equipped with a unique skillset: a strong foundation in statistical theory, the ability to critically evaluate and develop methods, and hands-on experience with real-world data. Academic careers
The vast majority of our graduates continue their careers as PhD students, either in one of the departments that coordinate this Master鈥檚 or in other related departments in the Netherlands or abroad. The strong methodological focus of the programme makes you a highly competitive candidate for doctoral positions worldwide, not only in methodology and statistics but also in applied fields such as psychology, economics, public health, and biomedical sciences.
All the knowledge I acquired in this programme makes me feel confident to perform on a high level in a PhD position.
Professional careers
Alumni from our programme have also pursued professional careers that require advanced analytical, computational, and methodological expertise. They work as data scientists, methodologists, university lecturers, or consultants across sectors such as health care, finance, government and technology. PhD student
You will conduct four years of research at a university in the Netherlands or abroad, writing scientific publications and working as a teacher for Bachelor鈥檚 and Master鈥檚 students. After you obtain your degree, you can apply for a research post.
Statistical consultant
As a statistical consultant, you will work in companies like CITO, and . You will advise on design research and offer expertise in analysing data.

You will perform research in various areas of society and create reports used to control or policy support. You will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analysing research.
