Degree from a Dutch university of applied sciences (HBO)
This page outlines the step-by-step process for completing your application to a Master's programme at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视. Please read this information thoroughly before starting your application.
This is a selective Master's programme. To be considered for admission you need:
1. A sufficient Bachelor's degree
For students with a bachelor degree from a university of applied sciences an average score of at least 7.5 is required for their professional bachelor programme. Moreover, a score of at least 8.0 is required for their graduation project. Finally, it is recommended to have finished the Bachelor's programme within the maximum of n+1 years, where n is the number of years the Bachelor's programme is supposed to take.
Bachelor鈥檚 programmes that most likely meet the requirements are:
- Business IT & Management;
- Computer Science; and
- Engineering disciplines.
Students with a bachelor鈥檚 degree from a university of applied sciences or an equivalent degree in subjects such as psychology, communication, and design will normally not meet the admission criteria.
2. Solid knowledge of and solid skills in core Information Science competencies, including formal training in:
- information system design, including analysis, data and process modelling, evaluation, and development methods (10 EC);
- programming (7.5 EC); and
- research methods and statistics (7.5 EC)
Additionally, a high level of English proficiency is expected (see below).
3. Formal training, specifically for the Master's Business Informatics programme, in:
- organization science, including structure, strategy, and culture; and
- mathematical logic.
4. A strong interest in research, as the Master's programme in Business Informatics is a research master. A strong motivation plus knowledge, skills, and competencies can be shown through your CV, course grades and motivation.
English language requirements
You are exempt from the English language requirement because you obtained your previous degree from a Dutch 木瓜福利影视 of Applied Sciences.
Selection procedure
The Admissions Committee reviews all requests for admission and selects students that meet the entry requirements. In some cases you may be obliged to first complete a Pre-Master鈥檚 programme. The Admissions Committee also assesses whether you will be able to successfully complete the Master鈥檚 programme within the set time frame.
If you do not meet all requirements
If you do not meet the entry requirements you must follow deficiency course(s), which replace elective course(s), or you might be considered for a tailored Pre-Master's programme. This is for the Admissions Committee to decide.
The Pre-Master鈥檚 programme is only available for students that speak Dutch, as this is the language of instruction in most bachelor-level courses. Therefore, make sure that it is clear from your application (e.g. in your CV) that you speak Dutch. This way, it is clear to the Admissions Committee whether or not the Pre-Master鈥檚 programme is an option for you.
Please note: if you are not offered a Pre-Master鈥檚 programme or deficiency course(s), you are not admittable to this Master鈥檚 programme.
If deficiencies are found which can be remedied with a course load of 30 EC, you鈥痬ay鈥痓e eligible for a Pre-Master's programme. The Admissions Committee decides if you can do a Pre-Master鈥檚 programme and determines which Bachelor鈥檚 courses are required in your specific case. This means it is an individual/tailored programme, rather than a fixed set of courses.

Application procedure
It is not鈥痯ossible to apply for a Pre-Master's programme. You need to apply for the regular Master's programme. The Admissions Committee can decide to offer you a鈥疨re-Master鈥檚 as outcome of your application. In that case you get conditionally admitted for the Master鈥檚 programme, under the condition that you first successfully complete the Pre-Master鈥檚 programme.
