Lectures of our programme include:

  • Dr Jeroen Mahieu, Assistant Professor of Strategic Management. Jeroen’s research explores how startups can attract and retain valuable human capital and what the role of human resources is in new venture performance. Before joining Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ, he worked as a researcher at a technology scale-up (Tover BV) and as an Assistant Professor at VU Amsterdam. He teaches Entrepreneurial Marketing in Period 1.
  • Dr Anouk de Regt, Assistant Professor of Marketing and Business Development. Anouk’s work bridges people and technology by using consumer psychology and data insights to study how interactions with digital innovations (such as immersive media and AI) shape perceptions and behaviour. She teaches the elective Business Development Analytics in Period 3.
  • Dr Jason Gawke, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship. Jason is a serial entrepreneur who co-founded and other ventures; his research and teaching explore the psychology of entrepreneurial decision-making in teams and organisations. He teaches Data-Driven Entrepreneurship in Period 2 and  co-teaches Intrapreneurship in Period 1.
  • Dr Coen Rigtering, Associate Professor of Strategy and Organization. Coen specialiszes in corporate entrepreneurship and strategy, researching how established firms foster intrapreneurship and bringing this expertise into the classroom. He teaches Intrapreneurship in Period 1.
  • Dr Maria Greve, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship. Maria researches entrepreneurship and innovation in regional development, focusing on how historical and institutional contexts in transition economies shape new venture creation and growth. She teaches the elective Entrepreneurial Ecosystems and Economic Development in Period 3.
  • Dr Helen Toxopeus, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship. Helen researches business strategy, finance, and sustainability, focusing on how business models unlock funding for sustainable innovation, drawing on 20 years’ professional experience in banking, the UN, and sustainability networks. She teaches Global Business and Society in Period 4.
  • Dr Peter-Jan Engelen, Associate Professor of Finance. Peter-Jan researches entrepreneurial and sustainable finance, examining how funding, venture capital, and governance affect venture success. He has a background in corporate finance and frequently advises on financing strategies for startups. He teaches Entrepreneurial Finance in Period 2.
  • Dr Timo van Balen, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Coordinator BDE program. Timo researches early-stage entrepreneurship and innovation, focusing on how founders mobilize resources through communication, and draws on his own prior experience as a founder and startup operations lead. He teaches Frontiers of Entrepreneurship in Period 2.

We collaborate closely with Utrecht’s dynamic startup ecosystem, one of the top 5 in the Netherlands according to . Through the ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship Initiative, and close collaboration with UtrechtInc and other partners, students connect directly with entrepreneurs, companies, policymakers, and investors. These organisations contribute to our courses, projects, and live cases, creating opportunities for students to test ideas and engage with real-world challenges.
