Meet Your Hosts: Kseniia Eremchuk en Roald de Vries

Hello everyone! I'm Kseniia, a second-year student in the Science & Business Management Master鈥檚 programme with a strong passion for entrepreneurship. Alongside me is , who is studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), and together we鈥檙e active members of the Utrecht Debating Society. This workshop was inspired by our experiences in both debating and pitching, and we鈥檙e excited to share valuable insights and strategies that we believe will help you improve your own pitching skills.

About the Workshop

Planning to present your own start-up, propose a project in class, or simply trying to get others excited about your ideas? This session is all about helping you become better at communicating your vision!

Many great ideas go unheard not because they鈥檙e flawed, but because they aren鈥檛 communicated effectively. In this session, we will explore how techniques from competitive debating鈥攕uch as framing a message, structuring arguments, and adapting to your audience鈥攃an strengthen your pitch. For example, how do you get a room of sceptics excited about a biodegradable fashion brand? Or present a social initiative without sounding rehearsed? You鈥檒l practise responding to these kinds of challenges in real time.

The session includes a fun, team-based pitch challenge, where you鈥檒l work together to craft and deliver short pitches. It鈥檚 a hands-on, low-pressure space to experiment and improve. So, if you're interested in entrepreneurship, public speaking, or simply learning how to present your ideas more effectively, this workshop is for you!

While knowing common pitch structures can be helpful, no preparation or prior experience is needed鈥攋ust bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to collaborate. If you鈥檇 like to get a head start, explore this resource: .

Our No-Show Policy

We're excited to offer this event for free, but free doesn鈥檛 mean free of responsibility. Our events thrive on participant interaction, and we love providing snacks and drinks to enhance your experience. Late cancellations and no-shows make it harder for us to continue offering these perks. We need your help to make this possible, and here's how we work:

  • Once you sign up for a workshop, we expect you to attend.

  • If you need to cancel, please do so as early as possible鈥攁t least 24 hours before the workshop.

  • Failing to show up without notice will result in a temporary 8-week suspension from all Playground activities.

  • Two consecutive no-shows will result in a suspension from all Playground activities for the remainder of the academic year.

We appreciate your cooperation in making our workshops a great experience for everyone and look forward to seeing you at Playground.
