PhD defence: Judicial feedback – An empirical legal study of the interaction between judges and legislators in light of trias politica in the Netherlands
On 7 November, Wendy Yan defends her dissertation entitled 'Rechterlijke terugkoppeling – Een empirisch-juridische studie naar de interactie tussen rechter en wetgever in het licht van de trias politica in Nederland'.
When and how does the judiciary signals legislative shortcomings or bottlenecks to legislators and what do legislators do with these signals? When do these signals in the first place reach the legislature? In her PhD research, Wendy Yan maps out the practice of constitutional dialogues and feedback mechanisms between judiciary and legislature in the Dutch constitutional order.
