Adobe Illustrator: Scientific Artwork and Infographics

Target group

This course is designed for GSLS PhD candidates in the later stages of their research. It's a beginner-friendly course that moves at a fast pace, taking you from the fundamentals of Adobe Illustrator to an advanced level in just four weeks. No previous Illustrator experience is required. We will start with the basics, but quickly move on to the design of infographics. While this course can be a great follow-up to the introductory Adobe Illustrator course taught by Vincent van der Vliet, it is not mandatory.

Course description

This course builds on your knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, focusing on creating professional and impactful scientific artwork and infographics. You will delve beyond the basics, exploring the theory behind effective design, the power of color and typography, and the core principles that make some visuals more compelling than others.

Note: Adobe Illustrator is primarily for creating illustrations and vector graphics. If your goal is to focus on document layout for a thesis book, publication, or presentation, consider our other course: Adobe InDesign – Scientific Publications & Layout.

You'll learn how to use the software and some golden rules about the design and visual perception of the human mind. I received many tips and tricks to practice straight away.

Entrance fee: This course is free for GSLS PhD candidates.

Unfortunately we don’t offer this course for participants not part of the GSLS. Our courses tend to be fully booked by GSLS PhD candidates.
