Our research focuses on globalisation processes and their effects on art, architecture and cultural heritage from the Middle Ages to the present. We look at our own geography and at transcultural relations and exchanges with other places in Europe and the world, at local, regional, national and global levels.

Besides classical art historical and historiographical research, we develop creative and innovative research methods inspired by interdisciplinary, cross-border research and digital perspectives.

Our researchers provide solutions, knowledge and ideas to the heritage and museum field and work together to conserve and restore art, architecture and urban heritage.
