Yowali Kabamba is a PhD Candidate at Utrecht 木瓜福利影视 in the Department of Economic and Social History. Her research project investigates how the institutional contexts of both home country and host country interplay and influence the sustainable economic participation of Somali migrants in the Netherlands and Belgium. She holds a Master's degree in International Political Economy from King's College London (UK) and a Bachelor's degree in European Studies from Maastricht 木瓜福利影视 (NL).
Previously, she was an assistant at the Center for Ethnicity and Migration Studies (CEDEM - ULi猫ge) where she coordinated the master's degree in Sociology, Focus on Migration and Ethnic Studies. She was also a researcher at Spiral (ULi猫ge). Her research focused on diversity and discrimination within political bodies and on the labor market, and specifically on the intersection of racial and gender discrimination.
