Wieger Bakker is full professor at the Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ School of Governance for the faculty of Law, Economics and Governance (LEG). He holds a chair in Society Oriented Higher Education. From 2017 until 2023 he was chairing the board of the Centre for Academic Teaching and Learning of Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ (see /onderwijs/centre-for-academic-teaching-and-learning). Earlier he was director of studies of the Utrecht School of Governance bachelor program and coordinator of a double degree master program European governance.
Since December 2018 he is dean Lifelong Learning for Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ. In this position he works with a dedicated team on developing university continuing education (UCE). The ambition of this program is to facilitate and stimulate UCE-activities in which research and expertise relate to societal and professional needs (see https://professionals.uu.nl/ and see https://intranet.uu.nl/onderwijs-voor-professionals).
In 2020 he was, next to his work at Utrecht ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ, appointed extraordinary Professor Governance, Community and Cohesion at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ of Aruba (www.ua.aw). In 2022 he was elected for a second term as deputy director general of the Inter ľ¹Ï¸£ÀûÓ°ÊÓ Centre Dubrovnik, Croatia (www.iuc.hr).
